  3. This file contains last minute information
  4. that will help you get more from Claris Home
  5. Page Lite. You will also find important tips in
  6. the "Troubleshooting" section of the Claris Home
  7. Page Lite onscreen help. In particular, this
  8. document provides information about:

  16.    Claris Home Page Lite is distributed as an
  17. unsupported product. The full version of Claris
  18. Home Page 2.0 includes manuals, disks, and
  19. technical support. To upgrade to the full version,

  33. 1. INSTALLATION
  34.  
  35. Claris Home Page Lite will install the following
  36. folders and files onto your hard disk: 
  37. - The Claris Home Page Lite application 
  38. - A Clip Art folder and images
  39. - A Help folder, containing files in HTML format 
  40. - An empty Startup folder. (If you would like Home
  41.   Page to automatically open a file, such as a
  42.   library, place that file or a shortcut to it in
  43.   this folder).
  44. - A "Templates" folder, containing web page
  45.   templates for different styles of pages 
  46. - This Read Me file
  47. - A text file version of the Claris Software
  48.   License Agreement
  49.   
  50. When installing Claris Home Page Lite, free
  51. disk space of approximately 20MB is required for
  52. use as temporary space during the installation
  53. process.

  56. 2. TECHNICAL NOTES AND TIPS
  57.  
  58. A. Find/Change Limitation
  59.  
  60. Find in Find/Change is limited to 31
  61. characters. A Find for a text string longer
  62. than 31 characters followed by a Replace
  63. replaces only the first 31 characters of that
  64. string.
  65.  
  66. B. Double-clicking on an HTML File Opens
  67.    it in a Browser
  68.  
  69. Only one application is allowed to be the
  70. default viewer for a given file extension. In
  71. this case, the browser is the default viewer
  72. for HTML files, so it is opened when you click
  73. on an HTML file. To open an HTML file in
  74. Claris Home Page Lite, drag the file itself
  75. (not a shortcut) to the Claris Home Page icon,
  76. or start Claris Home Page Lite directly, and
  77. choose Open from the File menu. You can also
  78. change the association of the file type-see your
  79. Windows documentation for more details.

  81. C. Multiple Browsers can be Opened When a
  82.    Page is Previewed
  83.  
  84. Some browsers will restart each time a page is
  85. previewed and a new copy of the application is
  86. opened. To free memory, close the application
  87. windows not in use.

  89. D. Inserting AVI Files
  90.  
  91. Insert .AVI files through the Insert Plugin
  92. menu item.  AVI files will not show in the
  93. Insert QuickTime movie dialog.

  95. E. Working With Remote Files
  96.  
  97. If you're exchanging files with a site outside
  98. a network firewall that requires PASV ftp,
  99. you'll need to use a different application to
  100. upload and download files.  The save may
  101. appear to work, but will create blank files 0k
  102. in size.

  104. F. QuickTime Movies for Web Pages
  105.  
  106. QuickTime Movies need to be flattened to play
  107. in web browsers.
  108.  
  109. G. Crash after inserting a QuickTime movie
  110.  
  111. Video cards that use Hardware Drivers for
  112. QuickTime may cause a crash with Home Page if
  113. you insert a QuickTime or QuickTime VR movie.
  114. To fix this problem go into the QuickTime
  115. control panel and click "More".  Select the
  116. "Video" tab.  Under "Current Video Settings"
  117. set "Draw Method" from "Hardware Driver" to
  118. "Video Driver".

  120. H. Resizing Movie Files
  121.  
  122. Movie files, such as QuickTime VR panorama or
  123. .AVI files insert very small. They must be be
  124. resized manually.

  126. I. Uploading files to AOL
  127.  
  128. Several considerations must be made prior to
  129. uploading your Web Site files to America Online.
  130. If you need further information on any of these
  131. items, please sign in to America Online and goto
  132. keyword "MyPlace".  Details regarding the amount
  133. of disk space available to members and other
  134. special conditions are covered in the help
  135. information at this location.

  137. ** Members must first sign on to America Online
  138. and go to keyword "MyPlace".  When you do this,
  139. America Online will automatically create a
  140. Web Site for you named with your Member name.

  142. ** You must first sign on to America Online
  143. before launching Claris Home Page Lite to upload
  144. your Web Site documents, and America Online must
  145. stay running during the file transfer.
